Patent Trolls Offend Both Ends of the Political Spectrum

The Progressive Policy Institute is out with a policy brief entitled, “Stumping Patent Trolls On The Bridge To Innovation.” The brief “discusses the rich history of progressives in leading efforts to stop litigation prospecting, concluding that progressives should be at the forefront of this reform too.” And this summer, the conservative Manhattan Institute put out its own report on patent trolls, “A Report on the Litigation Industry’s Intellectual Property Line of Business.”

This clearly demonstrates that fighting patent trolls isn’t a left/right issue. Patent trolls are draining resources from real innovators, and both sides of the political spectrum agree that we need action.
